Development of a special program of teaching-learning
and care in case of addicted students: the possibility of integration
of rehabilitation and education.

As dealing
with drug-users, even drug addicts from the very beginning of existence
of the Tanoda, and as in the very center of its interest is always
the man and not the drug, the attention was turned to enhancing
the awareness of the problems laying behind the drug use, and the
possibility of solving them. Such activities, occasions and contents
were looked for, which are acceptable and valuable for the young
people. One
of these can be the school; it means a real chance for change -
if the young drug user does want to change, since the first step
of it is the release from drugs.
The intensive care is such a system of effects by which the attention
can be turned from drugs, and positive human relations, activities,
that can be done and managed, can replace them. The
Tanoda assures the case management of drug users admitted to its
Secondary school; supports the reintegration after recovery; the
Tanoda deals with education of students staying in rehabilitation
centers; the Tanoda is engaged in education of addicts as a part
of their therapy. The
deepest working connection was built with the Leo Amici Foundation.
The therapy of them and the person centered educational a caring
program are complementary of each other. Nevertheless,
there are some deficiencies of these fields of care: the learning
is not enough for changing the active drug-users' behavior; the
system of helping pairs is not effective in their case; the personality-development
must be more complex; the activities done in community are lacking;
there are many doubts in the helping team; the process of rehabilitation
is "closed". All these experiences and engagements led,
beside the personal development of students, to the special program
of Station Group. The
main aim of the program is the operation of a Rehabilitation and
Community House, which offers full-day activity, based both on person-centered
method and group therapy (work, self-knowledge, creative and self-help
groups, sports etc.).
The target group is that of the young drug- or alcohol addicts,
relapsed drug users, just recovered drug users, wishing to maintain
abstinence, among others. The
rehabilitation of addicts in the framework of drop-in care consists
of two main parts: the elements of healthy life guidance and the
elements of individual development.
Those can be, among others, the regular meal, regular work (work
therapy), learning, active participation in the common life, creative
activities, sports.
Among the specialized groups and events the Sobriety Maintaining
Group, the Theatre Station, the Rattling Circle and the Station
Evenings must be mentioned; In
all these activities the helpers, working in a staff, have the attitude
of the person-centered thinking; the main principle of this rehabilitation
program is the self-help. |
